The GrainSense Go analyzer measures the quality of grains and other crops in just a few seconds, including protein, moisture, carbohydrates, and oil content.
The technical principle is near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) in the so-called third overtone wavelength range.
This technique has been used for years in laboratory instruments.
GrainSense is the first to create such an instrument in a portable format.
Thanks to its patented sampling technology (grain inside an “integrating sphere”), the light intensity reaching the detector is several hundred times higher than otherwise possible.
This allows the creation of a small, battery-powered analyzer, certified for the use of rechargeable AA batteries.
The key components of the GrainSense solution are the GrainSense Go analyzer, the mobile application, and the cloud-based database:
1. The GS Go analyzer measures crop quality from just a few grains for any calibrated species. Protein, moisture, carbohydrate, and oil content are measured within seconds. The GS Go analyzer interacts with the GrainSense mobile app via Bluetooth, and supports firmware updates over-the-air (OTA FU).
2. The GrainSense application connects to the cloud to upload calibrations and other settings to the GS Go analyzer, and sends measurement results from the analyzer to the cloud-based database.
3. The cloud-based GrainSense database and API store measurement results and provide updated calibrations/settings to the GS Go analyzer (via the mobile application).
Cloud services include access to the GrainSense App and the GrainSense Dashboard.
